Rick Scherer, VCDX-DCV/Master EA, is currently a Chief Enterprise Architect for Dell Technologies, supporting our large financial services customers as their chief advisor in addition to being an independent author, public speaker, and founder of VMware.Tips.

After graduating High School at age 14, Rick began his career in Technical Support for an Internet Service Provider. Through his 20-year career he has had many different roles, including UNIX Systems Administrator, Data Center Architect and Senior Technical Director.

Rick being an early advocate of virtualization, has spoken at many major technical conferences (including 10 VMworld’s), local user groups and other events. He’s currently one of the leaders of the San Diego VMware Users Group and is a trusted advisor in the industry, including being a technical editor on many technology focused publications.

Rick holds many certifications, including being VMware Certified Design Expert (VCDX) #21. He was also on the authoring and editing team for the Dell EMC Cloud Architect certification, as well as being a member of the Dell EMC CTO Ambassadors group and Leader in the Dell EMC Global Field Technologists group.

Outside of work, Rick enjoys anything that has wheels, music, traveling and spending time with his wife and twin boys.
